Board of Directors
Tom was the founding Chair of Westwind. He rejoined the Board in 2009. His work focuses on forest management auditing in Canada and the U.S. Tom is a co-author of "Diversity: Forests, People, Communities, the framework for developing public forest policy in Ontario", and one of the foundations of the Crown Forest Sustainability Act. He was on MNRF Deputy Minister’s Provincial Forest Policy Committee for 17 years.
Malcolm Cockwell is the Managing Director of Haliburton Forest, a multi-use private land stewardship company recognized for sustainable forest management, which operates the Haliburton Forest Sawmill, Almaguin Forest Products, and Huntsville Forest Products. He is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) and serves as a Director of the Ontario Forest Industries Association. Malcolm also serves as Chair of Acadian Timber Corp. He holds a B.Sc. in Forestry from the University of Toronto, and is a PhD candidate at the same institution’s Faculty of Forestry.
Susan is a professional forester with over 35 years’ forestry experience ranging from forest industry, provincial government, auditing, professional regulation and Crown land forest management consulting. Susan enjoys living near Kearney, in the eastern part of Westwind’s French-Severn Forest.
Louise is a retired banking executive with years of experience in finance, sales and customer value creation. She served on the Westwind Board starting in 2008 and was a fantastic Chair from January 2013 to June 2019.
