Steve has worked in forestry for over 40 years and is actively involved with many community organizations such as GBBR, Muskoka Watershed Council and Almaguin Economic development Group. He is also on the Forests Ontario Board of Directors. Steve and his wife Theresa Gregory live at YogAloft Wellness Retreat in McKellar.

Barry is FMP author, guiding the planning and silvicultural programs at Westwind since 1998. He previously worked as a Forester and Project Forester for the Vegetation Management Alternatives Program for MNRF and as the Program Manager for the Forest Biodiversity Program for Wildlife Habitat Canada.

Tom is a graduate of Sir Sandford Fleming College 1974. He has winter, water and trees in his blood. He has worked for Westwind since 1998, primarily in the NE Quadrant of our forest.

Ken is a graduate of Sir Sandford Fleming College's Silviculture Technology program. He was previously employed with the Ministry of Natural Resources from 1975-1998. He was hired by Westwind in 1998, focusing on the SW Quadrant. Managing forests has always been part of his DNA.

Larry is working for you in the Muskoka area to promote good silviculture, sound forestry practices, values protection and accountability.
Javier joined Westwind in the spring of 2017 after completing a Masters degree at the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Forestry. Javier works both in the field and office conducting silviculture effectiveness monitoring, forest operations prescriptions and as part of the forest management planning team. He has held positions as a forestry technician and forest manager working on federal, crown and municipal lands in both British Columbia and Ontario. Javier holds a Scaling licence and is a Certified Ontario Tree Marker L1 and ISA Certified Arborist. He is a provisional member of the OPFA working towards full membership.
Forester Intern, B.Sc., MFC
Margaret started at Westwind in the winter of 2017 after completing the Master of Forest Conservation program at the University of Toronto. She is currently working towards becoming a Registered Professional Forester.
Board of Directors
Louise is a retired banking executive with years of experience in finance, sales and customer value creation. She has served on the Westwind Board since 2008 and as Chair since January 2013. Currently, Louise is a member of the Oversight Group, an advisory body to the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry on Tenure Modernization matters.
Tom was the founding Chair of Westwind. His work focuses on forest management auditing in Canada and the U.S. Tom is a co-author of "Diversity: Forests, People, Communities, the framework for developing public forest policy in Ontario", and one of the foundations of the Crown Forest Sustainability Act. He was on MNRF Deputy Minister’s Provincial Forest Policy Committee for 17 years.
CEO, Forests Ontario
Rob Keen, RPF, is the CEO of Forests Ontario. Rob’s 30+ years of experience includes developing forest management plans, feasibility studies, forest audits, and providing forestry services to landowners. Rob is a former Director of Maple Leaves Forever and the Algonquin Forestry Authority.
President of Tim Bryson Forestry Services
As President of Tim Bryson Forestry Services, Tim Bryson is the Independent Operator Board Representative. He is a Forestry Technician from Sir Sandford Fleming College and is the Secretary Treasurer of the Near North Chapter of the OWA. He also serves on the Local Citizens Committee and on the Forest Management Planning Team. Tom values his cultural heritage as the 5th generation of logging/sawmilling in the area. He values forests for multiple reasons and sees forests as a critical resource to human well being. The industry provides for his family and his community.
General Manager, Tembec Huntsville Sawmill
Gerald has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from Lakehead University. Gerald chose a career in forestry from a love of the outdoors from camping, canoeing, hiking, fishing, cross country skiing and generally just being in the forest. The Great lakes – St Lawrence Forest was particularly appealing to him on account of being able to treat areas multiple times through ones career and see the improvement from successive treatments.
Gerald has been involved with Westwind from the beginning and has been on and off the Board at different times throughout.
Mayor, South River
Jim Coleman is a community director on the Westwind Board of Directors. He is a retired educator after 35 years with BA and Masters Degrees. He has been involved with local politics in South River for over 25 years and is completing his third recent term as Mayor . He is also a member of the Central Almaguin Planning Board and the Eastholme Board of Management. Jim has many outdoor interests including skiing, fishing, hunting, canoeing, gardening, geology, archeology, art and woodcarving. Jim has an Ontario Registered Trapping Zone in Laurier Township. He believes that our District Crown Forest has a major impact on our local economy and is strongly committed to its sustainability .
John is a professional forester who is the Woodlands Manager for Goulard Lumber (1971) Ltd., a manufacturer of quality red and white pine lumber located in Sturgeon Falls. He is responsible for the safe and cost-effective supply of logs to the company’s mill, and he contributes to the management and governance of the companies that hold the Sustainable Forest Licenses on the areas where Goulard holds harvest allocations.
