Social sustainability is very important for Westwind. As a community-based, not-for-profit Sustainable Forest License (SFL) holder, we work with the community, our partners, and Indigenous communities to become a more socially sustainable forest. Public consultation and involvement of indigenous communities is a vital part of forest management planning and takes place throughout the planning process. We also work with our partners on tours, presentations, conferences, discussions and ideas. Areas of concern which limit operations or place timing restrictions on a specific area can also be put on social values identified during the forest management process.
